A ghastly image of a soldier delivering the words “and you?” — the darker side of Ludwig Hohlwein captured in a poster calling for support for the Nazi party. “Hohlwein’s stunning poster, used with different texts by both the Steel Helmet and the German National People’s Party in the elections of 1932 and 1933, transforms man and helmet into an inhuman sculptural mass imposed on a schematic imperial German flag” (Persuasive Images, 156).
Near mint, and we challenge you to find one in better condition. The colors are fresh off the press and the ink streaks shown in pictures here are from the original printing. One of these posters with slight tears sold for $5,520 in 2021 via Poster Auctions International, Inc.
