Description
Paperbound album of 84 poster stamps in 5 designs. This stamp album was created to sell at the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair by Italo Balbo’s crew which landed 14 futuristically designed Savoia Marcette sea planes which had traveled trans-oceanic nonstop from Italy. The planes and the stamps were meant to advertise the design and technological prowess of Mussolini’s new Fascist regime. The complete albums are certainly quite rare. Barring one corner cut on cover, in overall near mint condition. With original gum. 5 different designs. 84 stamps. (Pilot /Airplane /Modernism)
