Description

First Edition.Decorated black board covers with silver signature of Ferris on face. A dramatic selection of visionary, Futuristic skyscrapers and cityscapes, both real and proposed. The volume is perhaps the most significant ever devoted to Utopian, Modernistic American architecture. Cover shows some wear to silver titling on spine. Bindings, interiors clean and tight. Endpapers neatly stamped ‘Thalheimer & Weitz’, an important Phila. architectural firm in business from 1924 to 1988 (history of this firm included). Neatly written inscription on front endpaper dated Christmas 1929 – otherwise unsigned, but surely from one of the partners to the other, who were friends from childhood. A wonderful piece of original American Modernism with a great and mysterious association!
