Description

The original compendium created for state governors and special patrons planning a new American highway system of 55,000 miles of roads serving approximately 60% of the population of the United States. This copy was presented to Governor Allen Fletcher Miller (1853-1922) who was governor of Vermont from 1912 to 1915. The oversize softbound highly embossed booklet is replete with dozens of gravures, a wonderful foldout map and all manner of bylaws and submissions many of which are loose within the book. This was the first serious attempt at a modern concrete highway solution to improving and expanding America’s roads. It is very rare. I can’t accentuate enough how deluxe this book appears. There are all manner of wonderful details, embossing, etc. It was made to impress. Loosening front endpaper. Otherwise, overall near mint with various associative documents laid in.
