Description

“Die Zehnte Isonzo Schlacht”. This Austro-Hungarian lithograph (in Hungarian) memorializes a horrific stalemate at the base of the Alps between the Italian army and the Austro-Hungarians. Austrian posters of the first World War are very scarce. This one is very dramatic, with one soldier swinging his rifle as the other throws a grenade within a battle setting. The battles of Isonzo were effectively stalemates with losses of over 225,000 soldiers, more Italians than Austro-Hungarians. Near mint.
