Description

Quite handsomely done and well-detailed aviation cover for a 1913 aerial age. At the bottom is a panorama of ocean and nude mermaids. Above them is a large biplane (de Haviland?). With the original art is a proof of the two-color cover. Both of these are in excellent condition. Lauren Stout was a well known cartoonist during the jazz age, creating both strips and political cartoons. I’ve not researched the artist in detail. The finished cover which is shown in the gallery is NOT a part of this group, and is unavailable to us. (Airplane /Glamour /Pioneer Aviation /Flying) The lot in overall near mint-mint condition and very clean. Minor crazing at edges on color proof.
