Description

Original tempera on board of protest-like placard against murky battlefield-like background. Signed Jane R. Ward. This original art was one of the 2,200 submissions to the “Artists for Victory” exhibition presented at the Museum of Modern Art in 1942. Only 100 were selected. This was a submission which was not. (for extensive background information, search “Posters for Victory, MOMA”). The image is truly over the top with skeleton looming over hands jutting out of a bog and a gravestone burying the “F” for fascism. Some darkening at edges, but overall quite clean and bold. Done in tempera. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Unique. (Nazi /Skull /Horror /Agitation Propaganda)
