Description

The United States Orinting Company specialized in state-of-the-art printing, namely photo offset utilizing tonal screens and aluminum plates to create very quick color photolithography. The firm later merged with Russell Morgan, a stone lithographic firm not unlike Strobridge. This calendar is interesting in many ways. First, the calendar itself was done with photo offset utilizing an ornate serving dish on which is a tablet of a dozen different foods all done by subtly different photo offset screens. It is remarkable that this tablet of examples has survived. (Printing /Technology /Modernism /Magazines) The calendar itself is in overall near mint condition. Near mint barring what appears to be a corner loss in the lower left which may have been original. A significant piece of printing history representing a printing process which changed everything in American culture.
