Description

Original handmade program for its premier production. The avant garde Living Theater was founded by Judith Malina and abstract painter Julian Beck as an experimental alternative to traditional theater. It became internationally celebrated for its unique, idiosyncratic productions. The program is designed in a Dadaesque style in mixed mediums, including glue downs, and announces 4 plays – including one by Bertolt Brecht and another by Gertrude Stein. At the bottom of this ornate display is a vintage original 3.5×4”photo attributed to Carl van Vechten. An extraordinary American theater item! Framed. Both items are in excellent condition, mounted and matted with a background of theater seat velvet. Was 1250
